A peaceful snack break on Mount Rainier turned into an unforgettable wildlife encounter when a hungry squirrel decided it wanted a taste of a hiker’s treat. What started as a curious visit quickly escalated into a full-on mission as the fearless little animal climbed directly onto the hiker in search of food.

While the squirrel clearly wanted a taste of the sweet treat, candy bars are not a healthy snack for wild animals. Fortunately, the encounter remained harmless and provided a funny reminder that wildlife can be incredibly resourceful when food is involved.
