A 19-week-old German Shepherd puppy has died after suffering severe injuries in a suspected dog attack near Hemlington Lake in Middlesbrough, prompting a police investigation and the arrest of two people.
Puppy Succumbs to Severe Injuries

The young puppy, named Lincoln, was attacked on Sunday by an unaccompanied dog believed to be a pit bull-type breed, according to Cleveland Police.
Lincoln was rushed for emergency veterinary treatment and underwent surgery in an effort to save his life. Sadly, his injuries proved too severe, and he was humanely euthanized the following day.
Lincoln’s owner was also bitten during the incident and required hospital treatment.
Police Destroyed the Attacking Dog

Police said the suspected pit bull-type dog posed an immediate risk to members of the public following the attack.
A specially trained firearms officer was called to the scene and humanely destroyed the dog due to concerns for public safety.
Authorities have confirmed that forensic examinations will be carried out to determine the dog’s exact breed.
Two People Arrested

A man and a woman, both in their 30s, were arrested in connection with the incident.
They have since been released on bail while the investigation continues.
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the attack or has relevant information to come forward.
