What began as the rescue of a stray cat family hidden beneath a backyard grill quickly turned into a challenging journey of medical care, round-the-clock feeding, and plenty of baths. Found abandoned in an empty diaper box, a friendly mother cat and her sick kittens desperately needed help. Thanks to dedicated foster caregivers, the entire family was given a second chance at life, and eventually found their way back together.
A Family Found Hiding Under a Grill
Rescuers discovered the cat family tucked inside an empty diaper box beneath a grill. Despite her difficult circumstances, the mother cat, later named Daisy, was remarkably friendly and trusting.
“She was super, super friendly,” the foster caregiver recalled. “She let us pull the kittens out from behind her.”
The kittens were safe for the moment, but it quickly became clear that they were dealing with serious health issues.
The Kittens Were Fighting Multiple Illnesses
The tiny litter was suffering from upper respiratory infections and appeared to have a parasite infection, possibly Giardia. Their condition required immediate treatment and careful monitoring.
Because Daisy continued grooming the kittens, there was concern that she could repeatedly reinfect herself while they were being treated. To give everyone the best chance at recovery, rescuers made the difficult decision to separate the family temporarily.
Daisy and Her Babies Enter Foster Care
Another foster volunteer took Daisy, while the kittens went to a separate caregiver who could focus on their intensive medical needs.
The kittens required frequent cleaning, medication, and syringe feeding to keep them hydrated and nourished. Caring for them was a full-time job, but the effort was worth it.
“There was a lot of cleaning and a lot of syringe feeding,” the foster caregiver explained.
Their Personalities Began to Shine
As the kittens started feeling better, their unique personalities finally emerged. Boris and Natasha, Squirrel, and Moose transformed from sick, fragile babies into playful, curious kittens full of energy.
Each kitten developed its own quirks and charm, making it easy to see how much progress they had made since their rescue.
A Happy Reunion and Forever Homes
Once healthy enough, the kittens were welcomed to the Cool Cat Collective, where they were able to find permanent homes. Even better, their mother Daisy was there too.
After everything they had endured, the family finally got the happy ending they deserved. The kittens who were once abandoned in a diaper box grew into healthy, loved cats, while Daisy was able to leave her difficult past behind and enjoy a brighter future.
